This page explains what personal data this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. I have tried to keep it short and free of legal jargon.

What I collect and why

Newsletter

If you subscribe, I collect your email address so I can send you product updates. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form. Email delivery is handled by MailerLite. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time.

Analytics

I use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular: Ahrefs Web Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Neither sets cookies, builds a profile of you or tracks you across other sites. They process limited technical data such as your IP address to produce anonymous, aggregated statistics. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

Embedded videos

Some pages embed YouTube videos using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). No YouTube cookies are set unless you click play. If you do play a video, Google may process data under its own privacy policy.

Cookies and local storage

This site uses no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why there is no cookie consent banner. For completeness:

  • The analytics tools above are cookieless.
  • Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (for example __cf_bm) to protect the site from bots. This type of cookie is exempt from consent.
  • The embedded story player saves your volume and mute preference in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is not sent anywhere.

Who I share data with

I only share data with the service providers needed to run the site, and only for the purposes above:

International transfers

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that is the case, they rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

How long I keep your data

I keep your email address for as long as you stay subscribed to the newsletter. If you unsubscribe you are removed from the list, and MailerLite deletes your data accordingly. Analytics data is aggregated and kept only for a limited period by the providers. Server logs are kept short term for security purposes.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, the UK or a similar jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these, email me at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their personal data.

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
