Upcoming Price Increase on April 14
StoryFlow Editor launched on Steam and itch.io five months ago at $20 USD as a one-time purchase with lifetime updates included. That was an early supporter price, and from the very beginning both the pricing page and the store listings have stated that it will increase over time as the tool grows.
First, I want to thank everyone who has bought StoryFlow Editor so far. Your support during these early months made it possible to ship updates at the pace you've seen. Every feature, every platform and every game engine plugin exists because of you.
On April 14, 2026, the price of StoryFlow Editor will increase. If you've been considering picking it up, now is the best time. You'll lock in the current price and still receive every future update for free.
Why the Price Is Increasing
The tool you can buy today is fundamentally different from the one that launched in November. What started as a Windows-only node editor with boolean variables and HTML export has become a cross-platform narrative design application with full game engine integration, audio and character systems, an advanced variable and logic runtime, reusable flows and UI customization. All in five months.
The pricing model hasn't changed: it's still a one-time purchase with lifetime updates. Everyone who has already bought StoryFlow Editor will continue to receive every future update at no extra cost. The only thing changing is the entry price for new buyers, to reflect the value the tool provides today.

Five Months of Major Updates
Since the November launch, StoryFlow Editor has gone from a Windows-only tool with basic variable support to a cross-platform narrative design application with game engine integrations, a full audio and character system and an advanced visual scripting runtime. Here's what's been added:
Cross-Platform Support
At launch, StoryFlow Editor was Windows-only. Within six weeks, it shipped on all three desktop platforms:
- macOS support - added in v1.1.0 (November 2025)
- Linux support - added in v1.2.1 (December 2025), distributed as AppImage
Game Engine Plugins
The most requested feature since day one. All three major game engines are now supported with free, open-source plugins:
- Unreal Engine 5 plugin - shipped in v1.3.1 (February 2026)
- Unity plugin - shipped in v1.4.0 (March 2026)
- Godot 4 plugin - shipped in v1.4.0 (March 2026)
Each plugin is a complete dialogue runtime, not just an importer. Characters, audio, variables, branching logic, save/load and live WebSocket sync all work out of the box.
Audio & Character Systems
Version 1.2.0 (December 2025) introduced two major content systems:
- Full audio system - MP3 and WAV support with playback controls, looping and volume settings. A dedicated Play Audio node for standalone audio playback.
- Character system - create characters with names, portraits and custom per-character variables. Use
{Character.Name}interpolation in dialogue text. - Set Background Image node - dynamic scene backgrounds during dialogue
Advanced Variable & Logic System
The variable system has expanded dramatically since launch:
- Float and string types - with full string manipulation nodes (concatenate, contains, length, case conversion)
- Enum variables - custom named value sets for type-safe branching
- Array variables - lists of any type with add, remove, get, set, length, clear, contains and random operations
- Image, character and audio variable types - store asset references as variables
- Variable categories - organize variables into custom groups
- Variable interpolation in dialogue -
{variableName}syntax with live updates
Flows & Script Architecture
Version 1.3.0 (January 2026) introduced a powerful new abstraction layer:
- Flows - reusable subflows within scripts, with Entry Flow and Run Flow nodes
- RunScript interface - input and output parameters for scripts, enabling modular story architecture
- Random Branch node - weighted probability for non-deterministic story paths
UI Customization
Version 1.4.0 (March 2026) added a complete UI customization system:
- .sfui file format - style your runtime dialogue interface visually
- Dialogue preview - see how nodes look in your custom UI with live sync
- Font file support - import .ttf and .otf fonts for your dialogue
Editor Improvements
Beyond headline features, dozens of quality-of-life improvements have shipped across every update:
- Quick node creation hotkeys (D, R, B, E, C + Click)
- Snap to grid and customizable background styles
- Additive selection with Shift/Ctrl
- Edge drop auto-connect for faster wiring
- Comment node grouping - moving a comment moves everything inside
- Resizable dialogue nodes and panels
- Canvas context menu with right-click actions
- Input fields in dialogue options - collect typed player input
- Markdown file support with edit, preview and split views
- Auto-open project on launch
- Per-project session persistence
Either way, you get lifetime access and every future update. And this is just the beginning. There is a lot more planned for StoryFlow Editor and development will continue at the same pace. Thank you to everyone who supported the project early. Your feedback and bug reports have shaped every one of these updates, and the best is still ahead.
